Ever since closing an overwhelmingly successful Kickstarter campaign just before Christmas last year, bringing in $121,197 for an original goal of $40,000, Steve Taylor & The Perfect Foil have toured various cities and festivals teasing new music from the upcoming project, but never have had a set release date for the anticipated project. Today, Steve Taylor announced a release date for the band's first album, Goliath, on November 18, 2014.
The Kickstarter backer announcement was a tongue-in-cheek update (like most of Taylor's), announcing the finished mixing of the record on August 23rd as being the "birth" of Goliath (complete with the photo of a just-born baby in a hospital delivery room). Along with the album release date of November 18th, Taylor also announced that the album's first single (which wasn't named in the update) will release Tuesday, September 16th, along with a music video. The update added, "Subsequent singles will be randomly released prior to the album's release in November."
Further announcements revealed that an upcoming show will feature an appearance by hip hop collective L.A. Symphony, who were at one time signed with Taylor's own Squint label (they had a pre-release CD for their 1999 album Call It What You Want on Squint that never came out publicly). "We have a BIG L.A. SHOW on Wednesday, October 1st at the Whisky A Go Go on Sunset Strip!," says Taylor. "Not only will Peter Furler Band be on the bill, but we'll also be joined by the extraordinary hip hop collective L.A. Symphony!"
